Democratic group releases guide to 2016 GOP presidential field

Need a sign that the 2016 presidential campaign has begun in earnest?

A Democratic group that specializes in opposition research is out with a media guide of "must know" details on 20 Republicans who are said to be taking a look at White House bids.

American Bridge says its 2016 Scouting Report looks at the "biggest vulnerabilities" of would-be contenders, from early polling leaders such as Chris Christie, Jeb Bush, Rand Paul and Paul Ryan, to less widely known possibilities as Ben Carson and those who profess no interest in running such as Mitt Romney.

"There will be no better way to get smart fast on each of the candidates and no better reference point to keep them honest," said Brad Woodhouse, president of American Bridge.

There are sections on how they voted, quick takes on key issues and other explainers -- plus detailed notes on the sources of information for reporters who want to check it out. An initial 2,000 hard copies have been printed, plus its available for downloading for e-readers. Information will also be updated throughout the cycle on the American Bridge website.
