Neil Bush: Mom has 'come around' on Jeb Bush in 2016
Jeb Bush's supporters are apparently gaining ground in the unofficial primary for Barbara Bush's vote.
Neil Bush, the middle brother in the political family, told Trish Regan of Bloomberg Television that so many fans of the former Florida governor are touting his presidential prospects to their reluctant mother that she's softening her "no more Bushes" stance.
"I think she's come around now," said Neil Bush, chairman of the Points of Light Foundation. "Honestly, because so many people have come up to her and said, 'You know, Jeb's the best qualified guy. This country needs leadership. And he can bring the country together.' So even my mom, I think, is starting to swing a little bit."
Jeb Bush has said he'll make a decision "in short order" about a 2016 presidential race and recently outlined his top policy priorities. He told the Associated Press in October that he considers his mother as "neutral, trending in a different direction" on the subject of a potential White House campaign.
Neil Bush said in the Bloomberg Television interview that he doesn't know what his brother will do but wants him to follow in the footsteps of their father and brother, George W. "Jeb's going to have to make a very personal decision about whether he wants his family to go through this and whether he feels he can enter the campaign fray with joy," he said.
