Ohio Gov. Kasich's inaugural gala will be tuned to Buckeyes

Fans of Ohio State needn't worry: Gov. John Kasich has you covered.

Kasich, Class of 1974, will be setting up TV screens at his inaugural gala in Columbus on Jan. 12 so fans of the Buckeyes who happen to be celebrating his new term can watch Ohio State play Oregon for the college football championship.

"So our inaugural gala on the 12th will be more of a game watching party. I don't mind," Kasich tweeted Thursday night after Ohio State upset Alabama, 42-35, in the Sugar Bowl to get into the championship game.

Kasich's heart had to be racing during the game, especially when the Buckeyes' pulled off that double-reverse trick play with 12 seconds left to go in the first half.

Kasich gave everyone a heads-up a few weeks ago that attendees of his inauguration festivities could expect big-screen TVs in case his beloved alma mater made it to the big game. He joked with the Associated Press that it would be OK if only he and his wife, Karen, were the only ones at his party — but he hoped his twin daughters would be there, too.
