Lindsey Graham staffs up for possible 2016 run
It's hard to say how serious it all is, but Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., has done some hiring for a possible presidential run.
Brittany Bramell, former spokeswoman for House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, will be communications director for Security Through Strength, the Graham-created political action committee that could serve as a vehicle for a White House campaign.
Jon Seaton, who worked for unsuccessful candidate Tim Pawlenty during the 2012 presidential cycle, will be senior political adviser to the Graham PAC.
While Graham would be considered a long shot for the 2016 Republican nomination, he could have an impact on the race.
The witty and quotable senator could be expected to make foreign policy a major issue, forcing other candidates to confront those challenges. Graham could also affect the vote in his home state of South Carolina, which hosts a pivotal early contest in the 2016 GOP contest.
Politico, which reported on Graham's new hires, says:
"If Graham decides to run, Seaton would maintain a similar role in the campaign, while Bramell would take on a senior communications position.
"The moves come a week after Graham’s team hired an Iowa adviser, Tracie Gibler. The senator is expected to announce a decision within the next 60 days, by mid-May."
