Liberals direct Democrats: A little to the left. A little more...

A group of liberal leaders and local activists in Iowa and New Hampshire are banding together in an effort to push Democratic presidential contenders to the left. (Are you reading this, Hillary?)

The Progressive Change Campaign Committee has organized more than 200 early-state liberals -- starring former Iowa Democratic senator Tom Harkin -- behind a new "Ready for Boldness" campaign, urging "the 2016 Democratic presidential nominee" to campaign on "bold, economic-populist ideas" like expanding Social Security benefits and "breaking up the 'too big to fail' Wall Street banks."

The PCCC has been closely aligned with Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., the darling of the liberal movement. The group has not jumped on board efforts to draft her into the 2016 presidential race, but in an e-mail to supporters, PCCC leaders describe the platform as focusing on "big Elizabeth Warren-style ideas."

The boldness campaign features only one current member of Congress: Rep. Dave Loebsack, D-Iowa.
