Huckabee: Deal with Islamic terrorists like they're rattlesnakes

Potential GOP presidential candidate Mike Huckabee believes the Islamic State needs to be dealt with like a rattlesnake.

"When you're dealing with Islamic jihad, that has as its goal the annihilation of everyone who does not agree with their absolute religious fanaticism, you're dealing with a rattlesnake," the former Arkansas governor says in a new video.

Arguing against negotiations, he said : "You take their heads off with a four ten shotgun or a hoe before they bite you. Because the one thing that you can be sure of is that snake will bite you if he can."

The rattlesnake analogy has been a colorful favorite for Huckabee, who has made the same reference when talking about dealing with Iran and its nuclear ambitions.

The video was released by America Takes Action, an advocacy organization Huckabee helped launch last year with Concerned Women for America, and is the second featuring his commentary. The organization was formed under a section of the tax code that allows it to engage in some political activity as long as that is not its primary purpose.

Huckabee, who won the 2008 Iowa caucuses, has said he'll decide sometime this spring on a 2016 presidential race.

The former governor also wrote an op-ed column for the RedState website criticizing the Obama administration's foreign policy, suggesting President Obama has pursued a path that has weakened America and produced "anarchy" around the world.

From Huckabee's column, which includes a challenge to Republicans who don't believe in intervention:

But isolationism, backed by some on the right, will make the world even more dangerous. No one would suggest that America engage militarily in every dark corner of the planet. But if America fails to confront and defeat the threat of radical Islam, who will?
