Mike Huckabee is going to make an announcement tonight on Fox News about the 2016 presidential race.
Hogan Gidley, an aide to the former Arkansas governor, tweeted that Huckabee's announcement plans will be revealed at 6 p.m. ET on Special Report with Bret Baier. Baier has been interviewing the prospective candidates as part of his ongoing profile series, The Presidential Contenders: 2016.
Huckabee, who won the 2008 Iowa GOP caucuses, ended his show on Fox in January to explore another presidential campaign. The former governor, who is a favorite of evangelical voters, has said he would make a decision sometime in the spring.
It's not unusual for Huckabee to choose Fox News as his venue for sharing news. He considered running again in 2012 for the Republican nomination, and had given conflicting hints about what he would do. But ultimately Huckabee announced in May 2011 — on his own Fox News show that aired on Saturday nights — that "all the factors say go, but my heart says no."
Huckabee's announcement about the 2012 race was definitely out of the ordinary: He interviewed Mario Lopez, the former teen star who now hosts TV's Extra, and even jammed on his guitar with Ted Nugent on the rocker's hit, Cat Scratch Fever, before finally saying that he wouldn't run.
