OK, America, your president is tweeting

Yes, it has come to this.

And just to be sure, the White House confirmed it.

Of course, Obama has had access to the Twittersphere all along. He would occasionally send tweets from his campaign account @BarackObama -- now run by Organizing for Action -- or from @WhiteHouse, signing them "-bo". The @POTUS account belongs to the White House, so Obama will have to give it up when he leaves office.
