Nevada Gov. Sandoval won't run for Harry Reid's seat

Nevada's popular Republican Gov. Brian Sandoval said Tuesday he will not run for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by retiring Democratic Leader Harry Reid.

Sandoval is considered a rising star in the GOP, and is frequently mentioned as a possible future presidential or vice presidential candidate.  He would immediately be a front-runner for a Senate race in the Silver State, but for now, he said in a statement, "It is an honor and a privilege to serve as Nevada’s Chief Executive and that I love my job. My heart is in my responsibilities as Governor and continuing to build the New Nevada."

Roll Call explains that while Sandoval was clearly leaning against a Senate campaign, the rest of the GOP contenders have been waiting for Sandoval's announcement before getting into the race.
