New Hampshire poll: Clinton 44%, Sanders 32%

Is New Hampshire catching Bernie Sanders fever?

A new poll by the website Morning Consult shows Sanders gaining on Hillary Clinton in the state holding the first 2016 presidential primary, though Clinton still leads the Vermont senator in his neighboring New Hampshire by 44%-32%.

Sanders has drawn big crowds since declaring his presidential plans last month, and many Democrats are responding to the independent senator's calls for higher taxes and new legislation designed to reduce the nation's income gap.

Even so, surveys by Morning Consult show that Clinton retains big leads in two other early contest states, Iowa and South Carolina.

In Iowa, Clinton has 54% while Sanders polls 12% and Vice President Biden takes 9%.

The South Carolina standing: Clinton, 56%, Biden, 15% and Sanders, 10%.

Notes Morning Consult:

"Former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley (D), former Sen. Jim Webb (D-Va.) and former Rhode Island Gov. Lincoln Chafee are still struggling to register in all three early states. O’Malley takes 3 percent of the vote in South Carolina, 2 percent in New Hampshire and 1 percent in Iowa."
