Trump: My candidacy won't help Bush
Donald Trump is disputing a hot new political theory: that his insurgent presidential campaign will ultimately help Republican establishment favorite Jeb Bush.
"Nobody believes that," Trump said Friday on MSNBC's Morning Joe. "The one that least believes that is Jeb Bush. Believe me."
Some do believe that, however.
National Journal reports that "the paradox of Donald Trump's bombastic presidential campaign is that his rise may ultimately benefit the rival he has attacked most vociferously."
How? By providing Bush "a foil in the immigration debate, and also by dividing the populist conservative voters who are least likely to ever support an establishment favorite like the former Florida governor," says National Journal.
Bush and Trump are currently at the top of early Republican polls.
