Huckabee: Obama's Iran deal takes Israel to 'door of the oven'
Mike Huckabee is attacking President Obama's Iran deal with a Holocaust reference.
"It is so naive that he would trust the Iranians," Huckabee told Breitbart News. "By doing so, he will take the Israelis and march them to the door of the oven."
The former Arkansas governor added: "This is the most idiotic thing, this Iran deal."
Congressional Republicans and Israeli government officials said the agreement -- in which the U.S. and allies end sanctions on Iran as it gives up the means to make nuclear weapons -- will actually smooth Iran's path to nuclear weapons.
Obama and other supporters said the deal closes Iran's pathways to nuclear weapons, thereby avoiding the prospect of military action.
Democrats quickly condemned Huckabee for the "oven" comment.
“This rhetoric, while commonplace in today’s Republican presidential primary, has no place in American politics," said Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., who chairs the Democratic National Committee. "Cavalier analogies to the Holocaust are unacceptable. Mike Huckabee must apologize to the Jewish community and to the American people for this grossly irresponsible statement.”
