5 things to do instead of watching the Benghazi hearing

It's been more than 10 hours since Hillary Clinton began testifying before the House Select Committee on Benghazi. There's a lot that you could have done in that time instead of tweeting, watching a livestream or actually sitting in the room, such as:

1. Fly to Paris

A nonstop flight from Washington, D.C., to Paris, France, is about seven and a half hours. Had you left right when the hearing started, you could have already grabbed your luggage and watched the Eiffel Tower light up.

2. Marathon a TV show

Excited about the news that Gilmore Girls may be returning to Netflix? Then it's time for a rewatch! You could have watched about half of the first season (13 episodes nonstop, 12 episodes if you wanted to break for lunch), enough to see Rory go off to Chilton and start shipping Lorelai and Luke. If you wanted to binge on a 20-minute sitcom, like How I Met Your Mother, you could have watched an entire season by now.

3. Run a marathon and rested afterward

Speaking of marathons, you could have run 26.2 miles since Clinton started her testimony. The average running time for any person, regardless of gender or age, is four hours and 24 minutes, says Livestrong.com.

4. Had a baby

The average labor time for mothers who have had children before is about eight hours, according to Parents.com. If you're a first-time mom, you're outta luck and would be in labor for about 14 hours.

5. Attended several other congressional hearings

There isn't an average length for a congressional hearing, but needless to say, they don't typically stretch this long. Other things Congress-related that aren't usually this long: swearing members in, most floor votes, introduction of legislation, the annual congressional baseball game, any number of fundraisers and galas, and leadership elections.

But alas. You're still watching that Benghazi hearing. Enjoy.
