Sanders: I'm not as much of a socialist as Ike

Apparently President Dwight Eisenhower's tax policies were a bit too left-wing even for democratic socialist Bernie Sanders.

In a discussion of taxes and paying for new government programs, Sanders said he supported raising taxes on the wealthy, but acknowledged "we haven't come up with an exact number yet." However, he said, it wouldn't be as high as the top rate under Eisenhower of 90%.

After the crowd reacted as if that would indeed be quite an extreme step to take, Sanders deadpanned: “I’m not that much of a socialist compared to Eisenhower."

We're guessing the 34th president might disagree.
