Wolf Blitzer to Ted Cruz: 'Wait your turn'

It happens in every debate, and it's always a bit awkward: Political candidate tries to interject himself into a debate, while the moderator tries to enforce the debate rules. And then we watch at home to see who will blink first.

That's what happened during a discussion of the candidates' thoughts on regime change, and CNN moderator Wolf Blitzer was ready to move on with a question from panelist Hugh Hewitt.

After some back and forth between Ted Cruz and Blitzer, this exchange happened:

Cruz: "Wolf, the question of whether we should be toppling dictatorships is asking the wrong question. We should be defeating our enemies, so the problem with defeating ..."

Blitzer: "Senator, Senator, we're going to get to you. Wait your turn. We have two hours of debate. We'll have plenty of time. Let Hugh ask his question."

This went on a bit longer as Blitzer interjected, "Senator, please."

Finally, Blitzer cut him off, saying: "These are the rules all of you agreed to. Hugh, go ahead with your question."
