Trump seeks New Hampshire repeat in South Carolina
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. — Donald Trump wrapped up his South Carolina campaign Friday night with a basic request of the voters: Do for me what New Hampshire did.
In seeking a repeat of his easy win in last week's New Hampshire primary, Trump noted that he led virtually every voter demographic there: "Rich-poor, fat-thin, tall-short," as well as more traditional categories.
"They were incredible people," Trump said of New Hampshire.
South Carolina? Presumably we'll see after Saturday's primary.
In wrapping up his campaign in the Palmetto State, Trump echoed his call for a boycott of Apple in its standoff with the FBI over access to the phone of one of the shooters in the San Bernardino, Calif., attack.
Trump also recited a number of positions that have fueled his front-running campaign: A proposed wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, complaints about drug trafficking and illegal immigration across that border, getting rid of Obamacare, pledges to forge better trade deals, and the self-financing of his presidential campaign.
The New York businessman also attacked primary rivals Jeb Bush and Ted Cruz, saying the former has wasted millions on a failed presidential campaign and the latter is lying about Trump's record.
Bush, Cruz, and other opponents have said Trump is not a real conservative and is fooling Republican voters in a bid for power.
Trump leads pre-primary polls in South Carolina, but urged his voters to show up at the polls: "Who knows? We can't take a chance, right?"
