Kerry hits Trump over diversity and the U.S.-Mexico wall

A rising number of Obama administration officials are taking shots at Donald Trump — and Secretary of State John Kerry took his turn Friday.

Delivering the commencement address at Northeastern University in Boston, Kerry assailed Trump over his views on cultural diversity and foreign policy.

"You are the most diverse class in Northeastern history," Kerry said. "In other words, you are Donald Trump's worst nightmare."

Speaking on the same day that President Obama criticized Trump's economic proposals, Kerry also appeared to hit the presumptive Republican presidential nominee over foreign affairs, including his proposal for a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.

While not citing Trump by name, Kerry said: "We will never come out on top if we accept advice from soundbite salesmen and carnival barkers who pretend the most powerful country on Earth can remain great by looking inward and hiding behind walls at a time when technology has made that impossible to do and unwise to even attempt."

Trump says the wall will help block illegal immigration.
