Poll: 4-to-1 NJ voters don't want Christie as VP

Donald Trump may be considering Chris Christie as his running-mate, but New Jersey voters 4-to-1 say don’t do it.

A Quinnipiac poll Wednesday found that 72% of New Jersey voters didn’t think their governor should be Trump’s no. 2 — just 18% think he should. And even New Jersey Republicans are saying no thanks to a Trump-Christie ticket: 64% were against and 27% were for.

Christie — who ran for president until February — has endorsed Trump and is head of his transition team. Last week Trump told the Associated Press that he hadn’t ruled out Christie as his vice president.

Christie also has his worse approval rating in Quinnipiac history. Nearly two-thirds of New Jersey voters said they they didn’t approve of the job he is doing, 64% to 29%. In April, voters 56% disapproved and 38% approved.

The telephone poll of 1,989 registered New Jersey voters was conducted May 10-16. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.2 points.
