Carson: President Trump would be too busy to tweet
Do you enjoy Donald Trump’s seemingly stream-of-consciousness tweets? Well, don't get too attached, according to Ben Carson, one of the presumptive GOP nominee's most prominent surrogates — they might end if he makes it to the White House.
The retired neurosurgeon and former presidential candidate weighed in on Trump's Twitter habits on Fox News Channel Friday.
“He’s gonna be too busy, quite frankly, for that. It will not only be, you know, the crash, it will be things that are going on in Iraq, things that are going on in North Korea, things that are going on in the South China Sea. He’s gonna be dealing with a lot of stuff. He’s not gonna have time, you know, to be tweeting about that.”
Carson referenced Trump’s tweet on Thursday shortly after an EgyptAir plane went missing, declaring it a terrorist attack. Critics questioned the judgment of such a strong statement before authorities had weighed in.
“Well, it’s clear that he's expressing his opinion,” Carson said. “Everybody forms opinions about what's going on. I suspect that when all the dust has settled, there will be some mischief implicated in this crash.”
But in a Trump White House, things might be different, Carson indicated. Carson said he expected Trump would likely have a spokesperson and the administration would be “issuing statements and they’re gonna be talking about all the different possibilities" if something similar happened when he was president.
