New poll finds Clinton leads Trump in Nevada, narrowly

Hillary Clinton holds a narrow lead over Donald Trump in the swing state of Nevada, while the race for Harry Reid’s Senate seat is basically tied, according to a new Monmouth University Poll.

In the presidential race, the former secretary of State was backed by 45% of likely voters, while Trump had 41%. That gap is within the margin of error. Five percent of likely voters support Libertarian Gary Johnson, and 4% chose “none of these candidates,” which is an option in the state.

As for the race to replace Reid, the long-time Senate Democratic leader, Republican Rep. Joe Heck led — but barely, and within the margin of error — Democrat Catherine Cortez Masto, a former state attorney general, 42% to 40%. Tom Jones from the Independent American Party held 5% of the vote, 6% went for “none of these candidates” and 7% were undecided.

Forty-six percent of Nevada voters disapprove of the job Reid is doing, while 41% approve.

The telephone poll of 407 likely Nevada voters was conducted July 7-10 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.9 points.
