Trump: Cleveland too far for Palin to attend convention
Sarah Palin may be able to see Russia from her house, but not Ohio.
Donald Trump, in an interview with the Washington Examiner Thursday, explained why Palin, one of his most prominent supporters, wouldn't be speaking on his behalf at next week's Republican National Convention in Cleveland.
"She was asked," Trump said. "It's a little bit difficult because of where she is. We love Sarah. Little bit difficult because of, you know, it's a long ways away,” he added.
Never mind that the former Alaska governor and 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee has frequently traveled around the country for Trump.
Trump released a partial list of speakers on Thursday.
Who is on the list? “Winners” according to Trump.
"You know, when you have [Ultimate Fighting Championship President] Dana White and you have some of the people we have on ... [Famed evangelist] Franklin Graham is going to be speaking and so many different people," he said in the Washington Examiner interview. "We have [retired Indiana college basketball coach] Bobby Knight, Coach Knight, who helped me so much in Indiana and elsewhere. I don't know, I think it's a really great group of speakers."
