Almost a year of Facebook Live during conventions

The conventions may have only lasted two weeks but there was almost a year’s worth of Facebook Live coverage.

According to Facebook data provided to Paste BN, over the course of the Republican and Democratic conventions there was 8,500 hours of Facebook Live video content (that’s 356 days in total.) Those videos were viewed 120 million times.

“We saw extraordinary use of Facebook live during the conventions. People across the country and around the world who were unable to travel to Cleveland or Philadelphia were able to experience the conventions and engage in the conversation like never before as delegates, elected officials, members of the media, and other convention attendees went Live. Facebook truly became the new way to experience the conventions,” Erin Egan, the Vice President of U.S. Public Policy said in a statement provided to Paste BN.

While both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump used the application they weren’t the only ones. Lawmakers and reporters shared video of the convention with Facebook Live. And some state parties also used it to share their state’s roll call votes.

Paste BN got in on the trend too, here's a Newsmaker interview with Democratic National Committee interim chair Donna Brazile.
