Donald Trump takes to Twitter to lecture media on freedom of the press

Donald Trump is unhappy with the news media.

"It is not 'freedom of the press' when newspapers and others are allowed to say and write whatever they want even if it is completely false!" Trump said during a Sunday tweet storm protesting coverage of his presidential campaign.

The Supreme Court has repeatedly upheld the media's right to report on public figures, even if there are occasional inaccuracies.

Trump, who has suggested changing libel laws to deal with reporters, has spent recent days denouncing news reports of problems within his campaign, controversial statements, and polls showing him behind Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton.

His attacks on reporters at campaign rallies draw loud applause from supporters. After denouncing some reporters as "disgusting," Trump also tweeted: "I am not only fighting Crooked Hillary, I am fighting the dishonest and corrupt media and her government protection process. People get it!"

For what it's worth, here is the text of the First Amendment:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances
