Clinton seizes on Trump ‘regrets’ in new video

Hillary Clinton is seizing on Donald Trump’s recent comments that he “regrets” some things he’s said in the course of his presidential campaign.

Clinton launched a video citing Trump’s most “divisive and insulting” remarks while pointing out that he isn’t specifying which ones he regrets.

The online video cites his recent spat with a Muslim-American Gold Star family whose son was killed in Iraq; when he said Arizona Sen. John McCain wasn’t really a war hero because he was captured; when he called undocumented Mexican immigrants rapists and criminals; and when he said Fox News host Megyn Kelly had “blood coming out of her wherever.”

The video is in response to Trump’s comments at a Thursday rally that he sometimes says “the wrong thing,” in a rare admission. “I’ve never been politically correct,” he said.

"Sometimes, in the heat of debate and speaking on a multitude of issues, you don't choose the right words or you say the wrong thing. I have done that. And believe it or not, I regret it. And I do regret it, particularly where it may have caused personal pain. Too much is at stake for us to be consumed with these issues," Trump told supporters in North Carolina.

The sound bites are spliced with reels of Trump, in multiple settings, refusing to apologize for the comments at the time.

With a new campaign manager at his side, longtime GOP pollster Kellyanne Conway, Trump is attempting to broaden his appeal to the general electorate. In addition to saying he has regrets, without specifying, he has tried to deliver a message to African American voters at rallies in the past week.
