Biden: I'm calming leaders anxious about Trump presidency
Joe Biden says he’s been reassuring anxious leaders that Donald Trump’s views do not represent those of the rest of America.
The vice president was campaigning for Hillary Clinton and former Ohio governor Ted Strickland in Warren, Ohio, on Thursday when he brought up a recent trip he had taken to assuage anxious leaders.
“You know what I just had to do? I had to change my schedule to get in a plane to fly to Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania. You know why? To meet with their presidents, I had a conference with their presidents, to reassure them that Donald Trump didn’t represent America,” Biden said. “Because you know what Donald Trump said? Donald Trump said he’s not sure he’d honor our NATO commitment.”
“They’re scared to death — with good reason — that Russia will cross the border and annex them like they did Crimea … He is causing, for the first time, with Bush or Clinton or Obama, for the first time he’s causing nations to actually wonder whether or not we’ll keep our word,” Biden said.
The vice president said that he didn’t think Trump was a bad guy. But, he said, Trump “has no idea what the hell he’s talking about”
“The idea that I ever thought in my career I’d get in a plane to make basically an emergency flight to hold the hands of three presidents … say 'no, no, no, he doesn’t represent Republicans or Democrats on this — don’t worry,’ ” Biden said.
