Trey Gowdy mocks his hair in new campaign ad
WASHINGTON -- Rep. Trey Gowdy delivers some expert-level self-deprecating humor in a new campaign ad filmed in a barbershop.
Gowdy, a Republican running for a fourth term from Upstate South Carolina's 4th District, is being challenged by Chris Fedalei, a Democrat who is also from Spartanburg.
With the tag line "consistent conservative, inconsistent haircuts," Gowdy mocks his own ever-changing hairstyles, from youthfully spiky to the Draco Malfoy slick back.
Gowdy's hair has even inspired a parody Twitter account and a Buzzfeed profile: This Man Has the Most Confusing Hair in Congress.
The 30-second spot ends with an unusual disclaimer: "This is Trey Gowdy, and for some reason, I approved this message."
