A day after Trump spokesman Sean Spicer received criticism for his treatment of a black female journalist, the two kicked off Wednesday's press briefing cordially.
Spicer called on reporter April Ryan first, and their exchange drew laughter from the room.
Spicer: "April."
Ryan: "Why, thank you, Sean."
Spicer: "How are you today?"
Ryan: "I'm fine, and how are you?"
Spicer: "Fantastic."
The two made headlines on Tuesday when they had a contentious exchange over questions Ryan asked about perceptions over potential links between the Trump administration and Russia. Spicer told Ryan to stop shaking her head, and that response received a strong response from black women on Twitter.
