White House bans personal devices from West Wing starting next week
Want to bring your own personal device into the West Wing? You're out of luck starting next week.
The White House announced Thursday that both staff and guests won't be allowed to bring their own personal devices — so, cell phones, laptops, etc. — into the West Wing. If you're staff, you'll still be able to use your government-issued devices.
The official reason, per a statement from White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders: "The security and integrity of the technology systems at the White House is a top priority for the Trump administration."
The statement was distributed the day after excerpts from an explosive new book about the Trump administration was published. Author Michael Wolff has said he conducted more than 200 interviews — some reportedly with senior administration officials — for the book and has claimed he had 'something like a semi-permanent seat on a couch in the West Wing.'"
