Trump says Elon Musk would head proposed government efficiency commission if elected

Former president and Republican candidate Donald Trump and Texas billionaire Elon Musk are planning to link up.
During a speech Thursday, Trump announced he would establish a government efficiency commission headed by billionaire supporter Elon Musk if he wins the Nov. 5 election.
On X, formerly known as Twitter, Musk seemed to accept whatever position the former president had in store.
Trump says he'll create a government efficiency commission
As Forbes stated, the former president did not mention what the government efficiency commission entails other than his plans to reduce the size of the federal government.
"I will create a government efficiency commission tasked with conducting a complete financial and performance audit of the entire federal government and making recommendations for drastic reforms," Trump said in a speech at The Economic Club of New York on Thursday.
"And Elon, because he's not very busy, has agreed to head that task force," he continued.
How did Elon Musk respond?
Musk hosted an Aug. 19 podcast in which he talked with the former president about the government efficiency commission and expressed interest in serving on it.
"I look forward to serving America if the opportunity arises," Musk wrote on X on Thursday.
"No pay, no title, no recognition is needed."
