Lake effect snow forecast: Maps show projected snowfall in Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, New York


The Great Lakes region is continuing face lake effect snow as some areas are bracing for multiple inches of snow into Tuesday.

Heavy lake effect snow is forecasted to continue through Tuesday morning in the Great Lakes region, with more than a foot of new snow expected to fall near Erie, Pennsylvania and the New York state line, the National Weather Service (NWS) said.

According to the NWS, heavy lake effect snow will continue downwind from Lake Erie through Wednesday. The meteorologists anticipate light snow over parts of the middle Mississippi Valley, southern Ohio Valley, and southern Appalachians on Monday. Moderate to heavy snow is expected over parts of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan on Tuesday evening into Wednesday, the NWS added.

Temperatures will be 10 to 15 degrees below average over parts of the northern and central Plains to the Ohio Valley and the Mid-Atlantic, according to the NWS, adding that freeze warnings will be over parts of the Southeast.
