21 confirmed dead in China mine flooding
The bodies of 21 coal miners have been recovered from a mine in China that flooded four days ago, the Associated Press reported Thursday.
The final death toll was confirmed by an official who gave only his surname, Meng, the news agency said.
Some 247 miners were working at the Jiangjiawan mine near the city of Datong, northern China, when the shaft flooded shortly before 7 p.m. local time on Sunday.
