Thai prime minister says main suspect in bombing arrested

A man believed to be part of a group responsible for last month's bombing at a Bangkok shrine that killed more than 20 people has been arrested, Thailand's prime minister said Tuesday.
Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha said the suspect, who is "not Thai," was caught near the border with Cambodia.
Prayuth described the suspect as the main person in the bombing but did not explicitly say he is the person suspected of actually planting the bomb.
“It would be great if he were (the bomber). Then we will know who they are, where they came from, who’s behind this,” the prime minister told reporters, according to the Associated Press.
The Aug. 17 explosion at the Erawan Shrine in central Bangkok killed 20 people, more than half of them foreigners.
National police spokesman Prawuth Thavornsiri said on Monday that authorities were searching for a man and woman who were linked to an apartment in which police discovered bomb-making materials.
Another suspect was arrested on Saturday in a raid on a Bangkok apartment that uncovered some bomb-making materials.
Thai authorities have not officially released the names or nationalities of the suspects.
