Britain's largest lotto prize ever up for grabs Wednesday
A record lottery prize is up for grabs Wednesday in Britain, where the jackpot in the National Lottery has climbed to more than $62.4 million.
The current record of more than $62.2 million was won in 1996 by three people who chose to remain anonymous, the Independent reported.
That record pales in comparison to the more than $238 million won by a couple in 2011 in the Euromillions lottery, which is played in nine countries.
In the United States, the largest lottery every won was a 2012 drawing of Mega Millions for $656 million.
