Reports: 19 killed in head-on collision in Pakistan

At least 19 people died Wednesday in a head-on collision involving a passenger bus and a truck in eastern Pakistan.

The bus was headed toward the Layyah district from Lahore when the crash occurred near the city of Faisalabad in the Punjab province, according to Dunya News and The Associated Press. The bus driver was among the victims.

“We have transported all the dead and injured to a hospital,” Mohammad Naseem, a rescue official, told The Associated Press. Some of the injured were listed in critical condition.

Naseem said the bus appeared to be speeding. However, the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
