LONDON — As Britons took in the news Friday that at least 22 people were injured in a terror attack on the London subway system, some social media users near the incident responded in a tried and tested British manner: with offers of sympathy — and tea.

"If anyone is feeling shocked or confused at Parsons Green, I’m round the corner and the kettle’s on," Katy Dunn wrote on Twitter.

James Edge, another Twitter user, had the same idea:

"Anyone who’s now stuck in Parsons Green/ Fulham drop me a line and I’ll get the kettle on! Parsons Green," he said.

Jo Bowes was thinking along similar lines.

"I'm in the area and I'm free is anyone needs a cup of tea and a hug #ParsonsGreen #helpers #ParsonsGreenExplosion."

And Tess de la Mare, a journalist for the Press Association, Britain's version of the Associated Press, posted a picture of a sign hanging on the door of a house that even appeared to indicate that some thought had been given to media covering the attack.

"The good folk at #ParsonsGreen offering the use of their toilets and charging points to the press," she wrote.

There was an offer of assistance from — of all things — London's dental community as well. "Please stay safe around Parsons Green. If anyone needs help or refuge, please don't hesitate to come by," a Facebook post on Chelsea & Fulham Dentist said.
