Russian cargo plane has crashed in Syria, killing all 32 people onboard

A Russian cargo plane crashed Tuesday in Syria, killing all 32 people onboard, Russia’s Defense Ministry said.

The Antonov-26, with 26 passengers and six crew members onboard, crashed about 1,600 feet from the runway, according to the Defense Ministry. The military attributed the crash to a possible technical error but will be investigating the crash, Russia's Tass news agency reports.

"According to preliminary information, a technical problem could have been the cause of the crash," the Defense Ministry said, according to Tass. "According to reports from the scene, no fire was delivered against the plane."
