Video from Peru shows unusually high waves overturning over boats and crashing onto the coast as the Peruvian navy says severe conditions are predicted to continue throughout the week.

Due to the dangerous conditions, Peruvian officials have been forced to close more than 90 ports and several beaches. The waves have mostly affected coastal fishing communities.

Although no deaths have been reported in Peru, one was reported in Ecuador by the National Secretariat for Risk Management, according to CBS News. There were no immediate details about the death.

The Peruvian navy rescued about 30 fishermen that were stranded for two days due to the giant waves, according to the Agencia Peruana de Noticias and the Associated Press.

Peru's northern coasts are expected to see the largest waves from Monday all the way through Friday, according to a Facebook post from the Peruvian navy.
