Footage captured at a maternity facility near Myanmar during the recent deadly earthquake shows two nurses based in China protecting babies.

Xiong Jielan and Li Xiaoqing were shown in the video holding onto the babies when the center, located in Ruili city, started vibrating, Reuters reported.

Jielan held the baby tightly in her arms while Xiaoping tried to prevent the beds from falling over, the outlet reported.

'We have the ability to act, but they don't'

The 7.7-magnitude earthquake on March 28 in Myanmar left at least 3,085 people dead, officials said on Thursday. Health experts have raised concerns about potential disease outbreaks among survivors due to outdoor camp sites and extreme weather conditions.

The health care professionals and the babies captured in the video were not injured.

"In my mind, I was thinking 'what I should do next?' I was also very anxious in the moment. I just wanted to quickly (protect) my nurse colleague (Li Xiaoqing)," Jielan told local news, per a clip obtained and translated by Reuters.

"She also grasped the other babies, bringing them together. At that time, the shake (from the quake tremor) was very strong. I could only protect the baby in my arms. The shaking was too strong, so the baby was a little scared," she continued.

Xiaoqing also spoke to local media saying that their goal was to protect the newborns "because, after all, we have the ability to act, but they don't," according to Reuters.
