Joe Biden has been elected the 46th President of the United States.

The Democrat has won Pennsylvania, solidifying the 270 electoral votes required to defeat President Donald Trump.

Biden's victory came after more than three days of uncertainty as election officials sorted through a surge of mail-in votes that delayed the processing of some ballots.

But wait, there’s more: The vice presidential glass ceiling has been broken.

California Sen. Kamala Harris will make history as the first woman elected vice president. Harris is also the first African American woman and the first Asian American person on a major party's presidential ticket.
