💡 INSIGHT OF THE DAY: Bezos and crew rode to the launch site in style. They made their way there in start-up Rivian's R1T electric pickup. Rivian, which has funding from Bezos-founded Amazon, is expected to begin production and sales of the R1T later this year. Spokesperson Tanya Miller tells me that Rivian loaned several pre-production R1T pickups to the Blue Origin crew for use on launch day.
📰 And here are more stories you won't want to miss:
1. Costco has reversed course: The chain will keep senior hours as COVID-19 cases increase nationwide.
2. Will the Delta variant of COVID lead to a further extension of enhanced unemployment benefits?
3. Going back to the office could be harder than the COVID transition to working from home.
4. The Corvette Z06 is getting an overhaul: Could it be the first electric 'Vette?
5. The Volkswagen Passat is not so lucky. It's being discontinued.
And with that, the Passat joins the likes of the Chevrolet Cruze, Ford Focus, Honda Fit and Toyota Yaris in the ever-expanding junkyard of recently discontinued passenger cars.
