Talking Tech: Tesla CEO, billionaire, and now 'Chief Twit'

Happy Thursday, readers! It's Brett Molina counting down the days until Halloween and fighting hard not to eat the candy purchased for trick-or-treaters.

Let's start with Elon Musk, the billionaire CEO of Tesla and SpaceX who paid a visit to the headquarters of what is likely his next acquisition: Twitter.

On Wednesday, Musk posted a video of himself walking into Twitter headquarters holding a sink with the tweet "let that sink in." He also changed the bio on his Twitter account to "Chief Twit."

Based on the account, it appears Musk is on track to meet the Friday deadline to close his $44 billion deal to buy Twitter, which he admitted is an overpay.

"Although obviously myself and other investors are overpaying for Twitter right now, the long-term potential for Twitter is an order of magnitude higher than its current value," said Musk during a Tesla earnings call earlier this month.

What else happened in tech?

Apple confirms iPhone shift to USB-C. It looks like the end of the Lightning cable.

Streaming costs keep climbing. The price of Apple Music and Apple TV+ is going up. It's the latest example of overall streaming costs surging.

Bad news for Meta. Facebook's parent company reported weak earnings.

Thursday tech tip

Traveling is sometimes stressful. You have to pack for your trip. You might have to wait a long time for your flight or train (or whichever mode of transport you use). Fortunately, there is plenty of tech to charge your devices and keep you comfy

One more thing

Before you panic because a loved one is playing too much Fortnite or another video game, something good may actually come out of all of that screen time. A new study found playing video games may bring cognitive benefits to kids

That's a wrap this week. Thanks for reading.
