Talking Tech: The iPhone is mellow yellow (quite rightly)
Happy Thursday, Talking Tech readers! It's Brett Molina back counting down the days until March Madness as I bring you this week's big news in tech.
Follow Apple long enough, and you learn the tech giant loves adding pops of color to their devices. You probably remember the old iMacs from the '90s in orange, red, green and other colors.
In recent years, Apple has been quite bold when it comes to freshening up its devices in new colors. Case in point: Apple announced it will roll out a version of the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus in yellow.
They're beautiful phones, for sure. Better cameras. Improved battery life. There's also emergency SOS in case you need help and have no cell service.
But that's not what we're here to talk about. It's the fact this iPhone is yellow. But how yellow are we talking?
You'd be surprised at how many yellow objects exist. My first thought was banana, because who hasn't held up a banana like an old school phone receiver at one point in their lives. Not quite as bright.
What about sliced pineapple or lemon? Getting closer, although the iPhone yellow looks a little warmer. Feels weird talking about all these fruit colors for an Apple phone, so let's move on.
Pikachu, the beloved Pokemon icon? Still a little too golden, but if we're talking Pichu, then it's a different story.
This brings me to the yellow I think iPhone most closely resembles. It's either a daffodil yellow, or a marshmallow Peep yellow. Both remind me of spring, so how appropriate.
What else happened in tech?
A Facebook/Messenger reunion. No more running separate apps?
Snooping on Instagram? That screenshot might not be so stealthy.
Attention, Verizon customers. That older unlimited wireless plan might cost more.
Thursday tech tip
No one likes a snoop, especially on your smartphone. Follow these tips to stop apps and people from watching all your smartphone moves.
One more thing
It is a great time to be a fan of Taco Bell. The Bacon Club Chalupa is back, along with the Double Steak Grilled Cheese Burrito. Bonus: You can get a free Grilled Cheese Burrito next month.
Speaking of burritos, time to wrap up. Thanks for reading.
