Don’t let these summer bummers get you down
There are a lot of great things about the summer: the warm weather, sunny outfits, barbecues, beach trips. But when we’re in the dead of winter thinking about our rose-colored version of summer, we tend to forget the things we hate. But we have some expert tips to get rid of those summer bummers. Who says that romanticized version of summer can’t be real?
First on the list: bugs. We’re saying no to mosquitoes all season long by outright preventing them in our yards and using bug spray when we venture outdoors. As far as ticks are concerned, we have some tips for prevention and treatment if you happen to get bit.
Next stop, sunburns. A bad sunburn can ruin your week, so it’s best to prevent them outright. This organic sunscreen is one of our favorites, and if you’re looking for a mineral version, we’d recommend this one. And before you say, “but Sara Beth, my makeup has SPF, so I don’t need extra sunscreen,” I’m going to tell you that the SPF in your foundations and primers isn’t cutting it. Don’t forget to give your scalp some love, too.
Let’s talk about escaping the heat and cooling your house. These are our favorite portable A/C units and fans, if you need some extra help this summer. And if you’re looking to do things more efficiently, we’ve got a whole guide for you.
Now get some new sunglasses and enjoy an afternoon free of summer bummers.
