The Daily Money: Kellogg Company splits into two; Powerball reaches $550 million
This is Amritpal Kaur Sandhu-Longoria with your Daily Money headlines for Tuesday.
Kellogg Company is splitting in to two companies, spinning off its North American cereal brand into WK Kellogg Co and the global snacking business in to Kellanova. But don't expect much change in terms of the brand packaging. On shelves around the world, the company will maintain Kellogg's brand logo on packaging, even though the newly formed companies have different logos.
WK Kellogg's portfolio will include Kellogg's, Frosted Flakes, Froot Loops, Mini-Wheats, Special K, Raisin Bran, Rice Krispies, Corn Flakes, Kashi, and Bear Naked. Kellanova's portfolio will also include Kellogg's, in a addition to Frosties, Zucaritas, Special K, Krave, Miel Pops, Coco Pops, and Crunchy Nut. They will also include well-known snacks such as Pringles, Cheez-It, Pop-Tarts, Kellogg's Rice Krispies Treats, MorningStar Farms, Incogmeato, Gardenburger, Nutri-Grain, RXBAR, and Eggo.
No Powerball winners Monday, jackpot reaches $550 million
The last time someone won the Powerball was in July, when the jackpot reached $1.08 billion. That winning ticket was sold in Los Angeles and made lottery history by becoming the third-largest prize.
But with no winners since then, and the jackpot creeping up to $550 million, could we see it reach up to $1 billion again? Although, this cash prize of $266 million still sounds like a good deal!
The next drawing will be Wednesday, Sept. 13 at 10:59 p.m. ET.
