The Daily Money: Cable providers would give refunds for service outages under FCC proposal

Losing your cable service when one of your favorite shows is on is a bummer. But perhaps this could partly ease the frustration: money.

Cable, satellite and internet providers would have to give customers a refund if their service is out for more than 24 hours under a proposal to be introduced by the Federal Communications Commission on Wednesday.

The idea was sparked by blackouts this year resulting from disputes between Charter Communications and Disney as well as Nexstar and DirecTV – standoffs that affected millions of customers.

FCC officials are expected to discuss whether the refunds will be in the form of money, a credit on your bill or a lower bill the following month.

What do rapping and football have in common?

A new restaurant, as it turns out.

Rapper Post Malone and the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys are linking up to open a Cowboys-themed Raising Cane restaurant in Dallas. Since it’s in Texas, of course, it’s going big with a 32-foot tall Cowboys star that greets customers entering the drive-thru lane.

The eatery will display art inside and outside to honor classic moments in the history of both Post and the Cowboys, two iconic Texas brands.
