'I won't condemn Hamas'


Farhat is doing his best to accept that his family may get killed or severely injured in the coming days.

The electrician, who is Palestinian and lives and works in Southern Israel, told Paste BN he was detained by Israeli police a week ago as he was getting ready for work. He says he was blindfolded, his wrists were bound and he was falsely accused of killing Israeli women and children. Eventually, he was put on a bus and deported to the West Bank.

As Israel's military operation gathers pace to root out Hamas, its forces are gradually reducing whole neighborhoods in Gaza to rubble. Water, food, power and medicines are running out. Morgues are overflowing.

The building humanitarian crisis, along with their long, violent and bitter shared history with Israel, complicates some Palestinians' denouncement of Hamas' attacks, even though they say they don't approve of violence against civilians.
