Jewish people fear surge in antisemitism
Adin Moskowitz locked himself in his dormitory at Cornell University, not knowing what was going to happen after anti-Semitic threats, including to kill Jews on campus, were posted to a university fraternity and sorority forum over the weekend. The threats prompted a police response and intervention by the governor of New York.
“It was jarring and scary to see attacks directly towards a community center that is a home to me,” Moskowitz said. “I was not expecting something like this to happen here at Cornell.”
The situation at Cornell is one of many alarming antisemitic acts reported in the U.S. and abroad in the weeks since Hamas and Israel went to war: A mob stormed a Russian airport over the weekend trying to stop a plane from arriving from Tel Aviv. Dozens of pro-Palestinian protesters in Barcelona last week occupied a hotel owned by an Israeli businessman.
In light of these incidents, Jewish people around the world are afraid.
