Who coordinated these undersea bombings?

The undersea bombing of the Nord Stream natural gas pipelines more than a year ago stumped the international community. The explosions on Sept. 26, 2022, took place off the Danish island of Bornholm and ruptured three of the four pipes that carried natural gas to Europe from Russia. The pipes were pressurized with natural gas but were not operational.

No one claimed responsibility for the explosions. Many pointed fingers: Ukraine denied involvement and accused Russia. U.S. and NATO officials said it was sabotage. Russia called it international terrorism and said it was not responsible.

Now we have some clues. A new report released Saturday by the Washington Post and German publication Der Spiegel points to a Ukrainian military colonel with ties to Ukraine's Special Operations Forces as the leader of the operation. The report, citing anonymous sources, said Roman Chervinsky, 48, managed a team of six people who placed explosive devices on the pipelines and detonated them.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was not aware of the operation, reports said. Ukraine has not responded to questions following the report's release.
