10 people, 1,000 loved ones lost

Ten Palestinian Americans from New Jersey and New York, who together have lost 1,000 family members in the war in Gaza, pleaded with lawmakers Tuesday to support a ceasefire in the region.

“I have one request for President Biden. Please save what’s left of my family and other Palestinian families who have been asking for one thing for 75 years — freedom and equality,” Duaa Abdalla said, speaking with other families at the Council on American Islamic Relations office in Newark, New Jersey.

The families shared similar stories of entire households who were struck while sleeping or relatives killed while walking down the street. They fear for relatives in need of kidney dialysis and diabetes medication who don't have access to medical care.

"We need to go back and bury our people, our family from under the rubble," said Adam Abosheriah, who said he lost 104 members of his family.
