Will Netanyahu address Congress?

An invitation to speak to Congress has become a political flashpoint over the Israel-Hamas war.

The House set a tight deadline to invite Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to address Congress, a move intended to reiterate U.S. support for Israel's war in Gaza. But Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, the highest-ranking Jewish official in American history, has yet to sign the invitation.

Instead of co-signing, Schumer said on Tuesday he was discussing the matter with the Speaker and reiterated his support for Israel. His words come one day after the prosecutor for the International Criminal Court announced he would be seeking arrest warrants for Israeli and Hamas leaders for war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Whether Netanyahu will address both chambers remains up in the air as Israel's war in Gaza continues to drive tensions among lawmakers.
